    A site B site host in C host.
    B link to A
    A won't gain backlinks?

    I am not fully confident but yes many seo and webmasters prefer to get backlinks from different ips as much as they can . May be by this google judge that site is getting back links from different places and sources .

    Better enough to have links sites with good reputation and well-indexed, irregardless of their IP.

    I have 1 ip with more than 50 domains on it and I do cross link each other and all indexed without a problem.

    I too, My client 14 sites are same IP, It is no problem. I got PR and good results.

    No, that's not true.. Unless the IP Address is banned..
    However, getting backlinks from different IP's is a good indicator of multiply votes by different sources ;)
