I think tabs in Firefox and IE is awesome, but I noticed my xp box was slowing down, so I went to close Firefox and I thinks I figured out why:eek:

    screen shot

Also Firefox was using 1.2 gigs of ram!

Must be something wrong with FireFox:D

Seriously, do you need to browse 25 webpages at once? LOL

The screen shot says 125, not 25.

I have only opened that many by mistakenly opening a whole folder of bookmarked sites at once.

My car doesn't work so well when I stuff 22 people in it either.

I usually have anywhere from 20-30 tabs open on average. How much RAM do you have?

125 seems like you might need at least 4 gigs of RAM... Why would you ever even need that many tabs open?

FireFox has a memory leak that causes it to use more and more RAM as you leave it open. I find that closing it out once every few hours solves this problem. Just close it through the Task Manager and when you open it up again it will let you restore your session. :)

hard to believe that having 125 tabs would actually be very functional/convenient

Only have two gigs on this machine, but it runs good even with all that ram being used.

Need that many open? Never, but you know how your surfing and you see something you like so you hold down the ctrl key and click it to open it in a new tab, that way you don't lose your place, then you go look at it later.

I's actually pretty annoying, cause you don't want to lose your place, and you dont want to add a bookmark and its a pain to scroll. Funny thing is I usually have two firefox windows open too...I'm probably swapping like a mother at that point:eek:

It's not like I want they many tabs either, but they just kind of build up after a month or two, I hate rebooting - takes too long must surf no time for booting :D

wow...i don't think i've ever gone past about 15 tabs. Only used 1.2 gigs to see all those pages, I think I might have to give it a shot and break my record :)

its fun to viewing multiple sites at a time and then flip around the tabs.

That kind of defeats the whole purpose of tabs...

hmm, 125 windows, now that I gotta try...

See people the thing is, It's not like I try to get that many open, It just kind of happens over time. The longer between reboots, the more I get open. Usually when I get too many open I open another window.

Funny thing is, I had two sessions running, one was running in a remote desktop window, and thinking about this thread I checked my ram, and the one that was using more ram, was the one that had less tabs. It was a big difference too, like one only had 15 tabs, and the other one had like 80 - I figured it would use more because of the tabs, but I guess it matters more which sites are on each of those tabs.

My personal record is 40...now i have something to strive for..
I'm usually around 20 though. I find myself dreading a restart so I don't have to close my tabs that have been up for a week haha.

Well for his RAM this is too many Tabs for Firfox. I never open more than 3 tabs in opera but it works better for me with 40 tabs in Opera without any slow down .
