I am trying to monetize my blog, and am using some special sale ads from affiliates. Myself, I hate sites with too many ads, so I wanted to know if most people would think I have too many ads on the page. I also put a text ad into the middle of an article, something I am trying for the RSS crowd. The Frugal Wench link is in my sig.
I don't think it looks like too many atall. Do something with the one at the very bottom though as on my screen it looks like its in the wrong place. It's centered but has a green background behind it, but then a salmon colour either side. On my resolution your logo also doesn't look right. Center it and change the colour of the page behind it to the same green used throughout (or a repeat of the image in the background of the logo).
Actually, it looks really nice. They fit in with the design perfectly. However, changing the background color of the AdSense Ads would be a good idea. It would help it blend into the page. Your site's header needs to be bigger - there is some brown color to the right of it. The same goes for the advertisement at the bottom. I think that the quote needs to be centered on the page. Here is what it should look like: "With greater emphasis on working to live, not living to work, we are creating awareness for simpler solutions, a more creative existence with healthier, happier longevity, for those brave enough to accept the challenge." - Tracey Smith That can be done by putting
at the beginning and
at the end. If you want to drop the "- Tracey Smith" part to the next line put
right before it. Other than that - looks pretty good.
Aside from the alignment issues mentioned by the previous posters, I think the site looks good, it has a nice color scheme and the ad placement is good.
Remove the 468x60 ad from top and add an adsense 468x15 Put referral ads on 1 side and adsense on the other.. Makes both of them visible Don't use Sky Scrapper, They just take alot of space!. Add 468x60 ads on Single Blog posts(on top or before comments, you can do both) and remove them from the main page. You can add them on the top of Single Blog posts.. They are more effective.. Your design is very neat and clean Arrange the Ads, don't remove them! Good Luck!
O.K., the page is set to be viewed on an 800x600 screen, because that's what most people use, so that may be why you're seeing the brown behind it. I'll check it out on a different resolution and fix if I can. There's only so much you can do with Blogger, but I thought I had fixed that. Thanks for pointing it out. The adsense is the way it is, because I read (here I think) that the most profitable adsense ads were just like the one I have there. The top banner is only temporary, because it's a two day sale. I've also read that top banners are very profitable, and I don't like putting a big block of adsense before the content. When there isn't a special event to advertise, I'll change that to adsense. I'm not going to change the skyscraper, because I have read everything I can about adveritising, and it seems that the skyscraper is very profitable as well, so it stays. I sorta like the header. I guess size is subjective. I had a smaller one, but it just didn't grab attention. I've been tweaking the site for a long time, and will continue to, but this is the closest I've come to getting it how I want it.
I wouldn't say it's too much ads but the width (IMO) is too small. It makes them look really close together. Widen it up and it'll look fine.
The majority of internet users nowadays in fact do not run on 800x600 resolution. It's best to make your easily site viewable in all resolutions to accommodate the highest number of people.
I fixed that, and I know that especially laptop viewers do not use 800x600, but if you look, that's how most sites are set up to be viewed. I cannot see the print in a higher resolution. I guess the fact that most people online now are younger would be the reason that the higher resolutions are popular, but it doesn't work for me. I'm not blogging to a younger audience, and I want my viewers to be able to see what I write without having to change text sizes. I haven't gotten any complaints from anyone so far, but I'm glad the background issue was pointed out.
