I have been reading IM forums for over a year trying to figure out how to make money. I have bought eBooks, and courses and been scammed many, many times over. I have stayed up late at night trying to come up with the perfect idea as to how to get started and make money in the IM game. For all my "efforts" I have made $0.00 to date Last night it hit me, and I know this question might seem stupid, but I need to hear it for myself from people who have had success. Please indulge me. Is the key to success in IM simply ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING (anything), LEARNING, and PERSEVERING?
I personally feel that if you are willing to work you can always make money online. The problem is that everyone thinks internet marketing is ran like mom and pop stores. "You build it, they will come", this works for mom and pop stores because you're already physically in front of your potential customers... unfortunately, on the internet you have to push your website and drive it to a point where it is in front of your customers. Internet marketing isn't the process of managing an already seen website, it is the process of getting it scene that makes you successful. This takes time and hard work, but to make money online isn't difficult if you have a service to offer and you are willing to work. Having a profiting website is a little bit different though.
errodr, if you have done all that, and still haven't made any money, the common denominator is you. Sorry. It's hard to say without seeing your site, anyway. Have you tried advertising, the only real source for being a success out there?
Did you actually read the post Perry? If you did, it is obvious that I have not done anything but research. That is the whole point of the thread. I was asking whether or not simply getting started (action, not thinking) and persevering are the keys to success. Thanks...
Just remember that it takes time to gain momentum and you need to stay focused on the projects you start. There are people who make money overnight, but most likely they failed many times before and learned by failing.
Hello amedia, Logic understands just as well as you put it. I Logic to be honest, have filed several times since starting Viper Logic in 1993. Today that is very differant but why I want to share this story is we have done everything from designing circuit boards ie SCSI Controller Cards, write and have written low level drivers for those manufacturers and it took us 10 years to finally get it right. That was 5 years ago, today 5 years later. (doing the math it has been 15 years) We today are and email marketing services provider, we build weather web sites with advertising and we have great clients and actually make money. We also have spent the past 10 years buying domain names and those are our investments. Why I feel it important to share our personal failures and time frames is that there is no truly short express lane in life to build a succcessful company. Yes before you bark at us there are those rare companies that jump from concept to 1 billion USD in 5 to 8 months and all of those 2 or 3 every 1/2 decade send a false understanding of what it truly takes to make a real business and to build on that business through customer satisfaction. This opportunity to build a web site sell it for 1 billion dollars is as rare as being a child from a poor neighborhood and becoming the next Kobe Bryant. The odds are equal. I hope sharing helps others, and you know when you fail, if you are truly a fighter will get your gears in line get right back up with maybe like we did, with not one dime to our name completely in debt and climb back not repeating those same mistakes and building like we are still trying, build the best business you can and building that buisness with a devotion and a heart feeled passion. Love to all, Logic...
Research is great and all but if you don't have any actual work, you'll never make money (obviously). Also, while you might be learning a lot from you research, you are missing out on the practical learning experience of trying something for yourself and seeing the results. You'll learn more from doing (even if it's failing to begin with) than just research alone.
