    I see in this site: http://www.deepbluecorp.info a well made adsense dinamic pop-up. (visible after few seconds)
    What do you think about it. Valid or not?
    Would be a nice idea for incrementing adsense revenue...
    Bye

    Im pretty sure you can't have AdSense in popups (although I don't see one on that page)

    technically speaking I don't think that fits the traditional definition of what a popup is- I always associated popup with new windows that popup, not inline boxes on a page.

    you could email google if you're really curious. somehow I think it'd just be more annoying than anything though

    Disgust - Can you put a screenshot up? I can't get it to display what the OP is reffering to (I just assumed pop up by their description)

    you kinda have to see it to really get it. it's basically just "floating" on the page (which I would assume is legal, and I've seen on other sites). the difference is that it... floats onto the page, then stands there.

    you might see it if you open the page and sit and wait a bit. it probably takes a good 15 seconds

    You are right...It takes a really long time

    Technically it breaks this part

    by having "Deep Blue Links" as the header

    I would be interested in if that is considered to be a popup or not by AdSense now that I have seen it.

    I think you could email google, but I don't think they really like people messing with the ads, and that is clearly messing with the ads. My guess would be they would tell you that you could not do it.

    hadn't even noticed that. good find.

    even if they don't consider it a popup it is also possible that it's attracting undue attention (or whatever that section of the terms of service was).

    Even if it passed TOS, with the load time on that page I can't see it getting much clickthru. Most users would click in or move on by the time it shows.

    And once it does load, it is annoying, and most would simply close it.

    Think over it, this "floating" area may annoy the user....
    Maybe it's not a good idea insert one of this.

    Yes.. but with the question "legal or not?"
    With the risk to be banned from adsense !

    well I think the idea is that the user starts reading / looking around, then it starts moving- and that's supposed to grab their attention

    That site breaks a couple of the AdSense terms/policies.

    First, that "floating" AdSense ad covers up the other ad units when you scroll, and it is against the terms to obscure an ad unit in any way, including with anything in a floating "pop-up".

    Second, he has altered the AdSense javascript:

    google_ad_width = 400;
    google_ad_height = 60;
    google_ad_format = "468x60_as";
    Code (markup):
    and

    google_ad_width = 210;
    google_ad_height = 250;
    google_ad_format = "250x250_as";
    Code (markup):
    Note the fact he has reduced the width of the ads, and that is how they appear on screen - in fact the banner doesn't even have the name Google on it.

    So no, it's not legal, and I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you want a terms/policies warning on your account ;)

    didn't know you were a DP member, Jenstar. used to reading your stuff at webmasterworld. :) I've missed a lot here

    figures that if they pushed things in one area they would in others as well- obviously the code changing is a bad idea. it seemed as though the floating at itself was borderline though.

    Jenstar, this response intrigued me. Do you know if adsense keep a "score" on your account if you'd had warnings and such - like a black mark by your name or something (yikes) ? Thanks.
