Is this sort of adsense placement really effective

First off, cannot believe how they can get away with this, but honestly it looks terrible.

It seems spammy to me but maybe to others it is fine.

 

Surprised! I've seen some adsense ads not really like this but somewhat similar to this.

 

Its over used...spammy...and im sure google will kick this. I think a minimum of 3 ads per page.

 

It does look terrible, but I'm sure it's increasing the CTR.

Home page PR 7. The article to the link you posted is PR3.
They are premium publishers. Look at their alexa rank. 1061, wow.
Spammy, terrible and whether you like them or not does not matter to them. They must now be enjoying cool ctr.

 

I only place 1 ads unit, and 1 ads link on every page :s

Urrr, it does have 3 ads per article, plus a search bar on the top, it has 4 ads. GG's max ads number per page is 5(3 ads + 2 search bar?)

Premium publishers has different rules... the rules that normal publishiners follows does not apply to them..

No, not everyone can. You need to be really huge to be accepted as premium publishers. 20 million page views a month was the requirement for premium publishers when i last checked...

 

Why don't you tell us and try it?

 

Those site got premium Adsense i think there won't be a problem
