Is this some new phishing scheme?

I log into my Yahoo! Mail account.

In my list of new messages is one with a bland subject line (e.g. "Here is your money"). The "From" name is just a common first name.

I'm pretty sure it's spam but I click on the subject line to make sure (no attachments).

After clicking, a new window pops up over my current window.

The new window is the Yahoo! log in page as if I never logged in in the first place.

Is this some sort of new kind of attempt to get my login information?

Yes they are trying to get your login info, and from that your personal information, money etc. You have to be careful with email to avoid this kind of stuff.
