Is this reasonable spam protection or something else?

I was referred to this site today and thought it was a nice, informative site written with a "down home" "aw shucks" style. But I wondered why the addresses didn't show in the browser window (Firefox) when I hovered over them.

Looking at the source was VERY interesting but I lack the technical knowhow to be sure of all the implications. I think the addresses can't be picked up by spammers and the Google spider can't follow them. I would appreciate comments about the reasons for and implications of this kind of page.

    Thanks

You talking about the thing towards the end that look like gibberish? That's just to hide the user's email address so email address harvesters can't see it.

I saw the hivewear_enkoder but also wondered about why all the links were mouseovers.
