Is this really crappy?!!!

Hey all,
My site has an ok steady number of visitors and looks like they're happy (from their feed back). But someone recently said that my page looks crappy!
What do you think?

"Crappy" is said to much, but I think this page could be improved (stronger dividers and headers).

 

Square blocks of information is the most unprofessional way to logically divide content on your site. Gray and pink colors are not good when together. Too many links on main page and almost no content. Looks like PPC feeds. No graphics is sometimes interesting but not in this case

Yes, exactly. As far as design goes, you can touch it up with graphics, but just
as an FYI, when I run across a site such as yours, I do NOT stick around.

I do not like affiliate links sites, sorry. I'm not going to validate the page under
the W3c, as this site is not a content site.

Content is king, and if a site is not offering valid content, SE's (Search Engines)
will not index them, and may even classify them as spammy!

 

yes, there are tons of links on the site but there are local resources and the whole idea is to provide that and my visitors really give me excellent feed back because my site is the only place they find what they look for locally but I just want to make it look nice.

Ad images, and match more colors. Whella!

 

Its very light, makes it a bit hard, tiresome, to read.

 

There are some problems with the tables... try opening the site in FF, the width is way too wide and table sizes are deformed..

 

If so, then you have difficult task that you have to do... The site can provide just links but in this case it must be done beautifully.

For example this just-links-site is done in the not bad:

It looks OK to me. "Crappy" is a subjective term and you shouldn't alter your site based on a single nonconstructive and subjective remark.

 

I have seen better and worse designs. I would said 3 from 5 for your design.

 

It ain't that bad, just a bit pale...

You could do with a really strong logo, that would finish the site off quite well.

Your page is a little cluttered. But the only thing that matters is if your happy with your page

 

Don't worry, be happy, your site is very useful and nice, you should not base your decisions on the words of envious people, you should do what you want instead.

you have pretty informative articles. I'd add more colors to the site to make it seem more interesting.
