Http://dwardusilver.com My nephew needed an ecommerce website for his business so I advised him to go to a professional company. The results so can be seen at dwardusilver.com The project started in April 2010 Costs paid so far >€6,000.00 Costs outstanding to date €600 It has IE8 problems Frontend and Backend which are still being worked on. Backend all hand coded and totally user Unfriendly - for an ecommerce site? I'd appreciate your comments on a very basic view of this site with regard to design and usability considering the amount spent so far. Should he continue with this company? Thanks in advance
Jeez. I think you guys are nuts. $6,000!!! I mean $6,000. And we're talking about the site not including jewelry right? lol Ok, listen clearly. The problem with going to professional companies is mostly they will make sites for local business, Example: a construction company. And do you know WHY this is? The reason is because according to a construction company its worth a fortune. They don't know any better. Seriously, you need to not walk but run. I have not looked deep into your site, but realistically with my connections I could have that thing made for About $1000(sql loaded). $300 without. I have a lot of connections because I've been in the business for awhile but even without them I'm sure I can get it done for $1400max. $6,000......geez
Thanks Laceygirl, I figured something was not right. I work a lot with Joomla,Wordpress and ZenCart so not much dealing with "professionals"
Just an update about this site. In September 2011 we kicked out the designers http://www.untangledmedia.com/ and I rebuilt the site using http://v2.bigcommerce.com/ who have supported us very well. Using their modular system we put together a reasonable system and I picked up a bit of Java in the process. All is now running OK and we don't have the untangled media sword of Damocles hanging over us and by the way - they kept the €6,700.
