Hi All, Can you tell me if this is possible? I already have an existing e-commerce site. I want to create a subcategory page in that site which sells a new product. Now, I also want to create a new domain and point that domain at the internal page of the existing site. Now, if I optimise the new domain name, what would I need to do to pass the effects of the optimisation to the sub page? redirect? Will doing it this way make it harder to optimise? The idea is that after a year or so, I can create a brand new site for the new product and remove the redirect which will hopefully mean the new site would already show on the serps? any flaws in this thinking?
you can setup domain forwarding to a specific URL. You can have a basic forward (taking you to the page with the normal URL), or a masked forward (the URL with the domain name of your choice instead of the REAL URL). a subdomain sub.sitename.com will count it as a new/seperate site.
But if i optimise for the new domain, then set a forwarding, will the optamisation work for the old site (the site i am forwarding to?)
Personally I think you should start SEO on the New URL put good content on the new URL and have a link to the sub page for the purchase, that will also help your SEO efforts on the domain you are pointing to, with a deep link
