Currently trying to promote the whereabouts of newly created website throughout cyber space, only to yet wish on success. Having already began SEO through an independent souce, i know this takes time and i am trying to be patient, yet my visitors numbers are remaining at 8 a day or less, these are the same numbers of uniques i had before my site was even on google.
Is there anyone who can tell what i can be doing whilst i wait for SEO, that may help the ratings, and most importantly with a site so early on its life time (3 months), is this the right amount of traffic, that everyone expects, when does the peak begin.

Thank you, any advice well accepted

    James

If it's not a huge secret, who is doing your SEO?

The reason I am asking is because most people who claim to be SEO experts are either scammers or companies who will only optimize your page for the easiest keywords to rank for anyway.

There is a lot to SEO than most people will make you believe. It's a lengthy process and most "real" SEO pros won't even touch an average project because they're backed up with super high-paying jobs for years...

The best advice I can offer you is to go through Brad Callen's Guide To SEO, it will explain a lot and the best part is you can start doing it yourself.

Let me know if you want a copy of it. PM me your e-mail and I will send it to you.

SEO through an independant source isn't the safest gamble.

bingoboots, you act as if a webmaster does the proper seo, then he will be seen in a search.

    It doesn't work that way.

He may or may not be seen. Ever.

THAT'S the reality of search engines.

Yes, be very judicious with who is doing your SEO. Some people believe SEO is nothing more than simply putting key words on your site (well, that may have worked 10 years ago...) Inquire a little about what he/she will do. Search engines are getting more sophisticated so your site does needs to be relevant. A few suggestions:
    * Make sure you have content that can be indexed (a site built entirely in Flash is going to be missed)
    * Get some back-links to your site (links from other sites to yours, but don't use the back-link farms; legitimacy is key)
    * Check Google Adwords to find what terms people are really using in their searches. So many times what we might think people would use are NOT the same terms that are really being used.
    * It can get pricey, but buy some pay-per-click search terms (don't go too broad, or you'll be paying for clicks from the wrong audience)

I've always heard that doing your own SEO is best. Any "real" SEO firm will charge so much that most of us couldn't afford it anyway.

Concentrate on getting lots and lots of backlinks to your site and in time, if you have good, fresh content, it'll probably just happen naturally.
