Is this normal?

I used Google Sitemaps 2.7.1 to create a sitemap for my blog, and then created a Sitemaps account. Everything went smoothly and I haven't gotten any errors, but I was concerned about this sentence:

Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Jul 4, 2006.

Is this normal? I've noticed that Google has only indexed a couple of my pages. I know Googlebot is regularly crawling my FeedBurner feed, but I just wanted to know if there was something I needed to change in my sitemap?

    Thats normal.

Google may have visited your site since that date but has not updated the Indexing summary.

For my sites I find that it updates between 5-20 days.

9 days isn't bad. How is your homepage setup in your sitemap?

That's completely normal... you'll find that Google can come pick up new pages without updating the date they last visited your home page.

I don't know if this means that they just followed the sitemap straight to one of the new pages or not, but if they seem to be visiting the home page once every week or two you're doing OK.

After 9 months at my current domain, and a PR of 5 Google visits my home page only every 7 or 8 days, but they pick up numerouse new pages in between those dates.

    Hope this helps.

    :)

Thanks for your help everyone. It looks like Google recrawled my blog again because the majority of the pages are now indexed ;)
