I dont see that as being too bad. I have one of my campaigns today that has had 20,000 impressions and one click!!

It depends on how much you want to pay per click and your daily budget as to how high up the list you appear.

At the end of the day when I use google to search for myself I ignore all the sponsored links!! im sure most people do

You should look at your ad text, see if it's really attractive to the searchers

Ask yourself - would i click on this ad?

No matter how much you spend you still need to get peoples attention.

Tell people why to click on your ad. Is it cheaper or better service. Do you offer more choices.

    It's bad.

It doesn't matter where you appear in the results, you still want a better clickthrough rate than that.

Possible reasons for the low clickthrough rate are:

Poor advert text (as suggested above)
Keywords that aren't very relevant to what you are offering (check your figures for broad match vs exact and phrase match - you may be missing negative keywords, or Google maybe using bad alternatives for your keywords).
Very good competition - if somebody is searching for a book, Amazon are likely to get a large percentage of the clicks.

I assume that you aren't including Content Network figures in these - as a rule, you should split the figures for Content and Search, as they are completely different, and the performance of Content will make your clickthrough rates look bad (and you won't know if they are or not).

This is not necessarily that bad. But always room for improvement, try writing a few say 4 different ads, then pick the best performing 2 after a week, then pick the best one of those 2 and change the other ad to compete with the current best 1. Then keep testing and replacing.

    A Great Tip,

Make sure the keyword is in the title of your ad!
This will make your ad a hell of a lot more relivant.

And should get more people clicking on it.

Definitely you need to have the main keyword mentioned in the title of your ad plus in the actual ad text as well if possible.

Make sure that your ad is very relevant to the product you are trying to sell and that your keywords are tightly focussed around your product. If your keywords are too broad your ad may get clicked on but your potential customers may not be finding what they are looking for.

CTR is varies depend on your position bid.
basically position after 8 is getting very very low ctr like this one.

so, you could increase your bid, and go for top 4, thus will get you 2%ctr for example
