hey.. I am a beginner in photoshop and just for developing my skills , i like to create logos for the various competition/contests for logo out here on DP. I did so for this thread But the thread owner really did not like it totally.. I mean is the logo really that bad? Ofcourse , i respect the OP's opinion as his personal taste but I am wondering am i really on the wrong on what works and what not? Need your opinion on the logo and perhaps point me to the right direction for creating professional logos.
It is not really striking and it looks more kinda like a sketch rather than a polished up version. The type (font/letters) also need to be a bit more polished up. That sort of giant oil drop absolutely does not fit. The trend concerning logos these days (I think it has always been like this actually >.<) is inclined towards sleek and polished designs. PS: This is more a banner that you designed rather than a logo. You should bear in mind that the client might be using the logo for other things than web display, for example printed correspondence. Hope it helped.
Hey there, Point 1: Do bear in mind ur concept for the logo. May i know, what u had in mind while designing the logo? Or what u were u trying to design for this forum? Ur may be creative in your thoughts, but implementing your concept in ur design is more important. And there lies the talent! Point 2: U need to understand the difference between a logo and a banner(or ad). A logo must be 'compact' and clean. I'm interested to know, why u used a Bright Orange as a background colour!? It spoils ur design and projects it more as a banner. Use a lighter BG or simply leave it as white. Point 3:While typing the text for the logo, please make sure that you type it correctly as given by the Contest Holder!! After finishing the design, verify for spelling mistakes. Observe the spelling for "myDiscussionz" in your design! Those are some areas u need to concentrate. Other than that, let ur creative ideas flow out!! Try out any 'random' tutorials u find on the way and u may get new tips on using a single tool that u wouldn't have thought of. Try...try...try as many as possible in your leisure time. Finally, u must have passion for designing! (Look for inspirations from the designs of giants in this field) And don't get discouraged if a person didn't find ur design interesting. As u said, everyone's taste varies. Keep trying and u'll sure improve ur designs. Hope u got some ideas. Cheers, chong
I'll cut to the chase. 3 stick figures, some blur, and an awful stencil font do not make a logo. I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but you need a reality check. Your "logo" looks like a public toilet sign after a hard night out... Have a look at your competition, try and emulate what they've done, learn how they did it, etc. etc....
Pls, stop messing with photoshop or any kind of graphic software. You're probably good enough something else...
You may try Gimp ? Basicly, i don't really like your logo ... I don't mean I can do better, but my job is developper ... see what I mean. If I where you, I will first learn how to draw with pencil (may be you're good at that) then go and learn some tutorial for using Photoshop in good condition ... then latter, you will be good enough for contest ! kéké
Yes, for me it looks really bad. But you can be forgiven because you're still new with Photoshop. Search Google for logo tutorials. You will find plenty of results how to design a nice logo. Improve your skills by practicing again and again and then, once your skill have improve, join the Contest forum.
Tutorials are the way to go..go through a few beginner tutorials untill you get the hang of photoshop and then go through tutorials that deal with more advanced effects..its a step by step process and i am sure you will learn soon..if you need some good sites with tutorials then dont hesitate to pm me
