Hello all. I have been commenting few blogs and noticed a thing that bothers me.

I have seen that the bloggers are adding some extra characters in my URL which means that when I submit my link within the comment it may look like this:

    <a href="http://www.the-site.com/?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.
    my-url.com">keyword</a>

Also, when you point your cursor over the link it will be displayed like this in the status bar:

    http://www.my-url.com?URL=http://www.the-site.com

Would be thankful if someone could clarify this to me. Thanks in advance.

They do not want a direct outgoing link from their site, which is why they do like that. Such link will not be of value from search engine & backlink point of view.

If you hoer over it, nad it says 'http://www.my-url.com?URL=http://www.the-site.com', then it's not a valid backlink.
