First up to the mods, im not 100% where to put this post, cos its got a bit of everything in it.

Right, I paid for a domain almost 2 years ago and forgot all about, i never put anything on it. It was registered at 123reg.
Now a couple of weeks ago i got bored and thought i might as well throw a wp blog on it and try for some adsense, since its doing nothing anyway.
At the same time i thought i would try a little experiment and see if i could get a site indexed without building links and do it on the simple fact that google loved its unique content.
So i paid for a load of articles and added them and waited. Till today, im sat at home again bored and though het i will see if that sites indexed yet.
    Done a google - site:http://sex-therapy-online.org/

    and yippie its indexed

Hang on a minute, lets have a closer look, Hmmm What the fcuk is this

    sex-therapy-online.org - Site inactive
Free Virtual Servers .com offers totally FREE web site hosting packages and domain name registrations from just £2.99. FreeVirtualServers.com also offers

So im thinking who are FreeVirtualServers.com? so i check the google cache and i see this -

So apparently my site was being used as a porno hub, without me even knowing. Im racking my brains thinking possibly my account was compromised and some malware added it. Then i read a bit more about this FreeVirtualServers.com and decide to give them a message.

    The response i got was
"That's our standard 'parked' page. In order to remove that simply either remove 'holdingpage.php' from the account or upload your own index file.

    Kind regards
    Tom"

hang on a minute, my domain was registered at 123reg, so why the hell am i talking to this guy and why have FreeVirtualServers.com got access to my domain.

and where the fcuk is my cut of the advertising money? that crap has prob been there for over a year.

is this legal? has anyone had a similar experience?

Yes, believe it or not just about all domain registrars and even some hosting companies do that. Hostgator, Godaddy, 1and1, Namecheap, etc... all do parked pages until you put up a page of your own. BTW if FreeVirtualServers.com is part of 123reg then they can put whatever they want up in order to match revelency of the domain, however if they're using it as a porn hub, that sorta tips the question as to why they show their users porn and not something simple like this is a parked page courtesy of FreeVirtualServers.com or 123reg.

Thats annoying from your point of view. The registrar has sort of stolen your site and given it to another person.

That's really fucked up. Switch out of 123reg then and over to NameCheap. NameCheap doesn't do shit like that.

123-reg.co.uk are a poor company. I tried to establish DNS setup with my dedicated server, no luck. Support was shite.

sex-therapy-online.org seems to be registered with www.34SP.com a reseller of Easyspace Ltd.

FreeVirtualServers.com is owned by www.easy-internet.co.uk who might be just paying for PPC ads.

    Hi,

Just to chime in, speaking on behalf of FreeVirtualServers.com, we do not advertise on active accounts at all as has been implied in this thread.

What's happened here, in brief, is that an account was set up with us and the owner later allowed payments to lapse. When an account is suspended any access to the website is redirected to our central suspension page which may contain advertising.

As the sex-therapy-online.org domain name continued to point at our nameservers with the account remaining suspended, the suspended page is what Google has evidently crawled and cached.

This can be avoided either by keeping your account up to date or ceasing to use our nameservers once your account is no longer active.

Further, FreeVirtualServers.com budget hosting is unsuitable for websites of an adult nature - instead these should be set up on our XXXWebHosting.co.uk brand.

    Best wishes
    Tom at Free Virtual Servers

Lol that sucks... I really don't know what else to tell you other then move it! I've had allot of luck with name.com and namecheap.com. I had a similar problem back when you could pick up a dot info for 25 cents. I at least got that deal from buying in bulk from off beat resellers..

    It was a lesson learned
