This website goes head to head with my boss's site. When you search for something, this website is always right above us or right under us in the serps. If you go here> http://www.wallunitwarehouse.com/ So, see all the keywords, is it allowed? Can I report this? Not to be a cry baby, but I do everything like I am supposed to, so if this guy is breaking the rules, I'd like to call him on it and report it.
I think I would report it. It definitely looks to me like 'almost' hidden text. The color choice used for the text is almost the same as the background. Doesn't seem that the designer intended for people to see it....only bots.
also, I found something else. Right under the huge group of keyword stuffing at the bottom, there are 6 pictures, black pictures at that. They are names like "keyword.jpg" and they have keywords stuffed in the alt tags. There are six of these pictures, only reason I found them is because I saved the page and opened it in front page to snoop around.
This coming from a flashlight expert. I was asking because I was unsure and needed a second opinion. Thanks for your help though, halobitt. If I need your advice on light bulbs, I will be sure to PM you.
If their prices are lower then your bosses then put in a spam report and wave goodbye. If their prices are higher then don't, if they are removed someone else will replace them and that could mean real competition. Sometimes it's best to look at these things in different ways, business is business.
God the webmaster for that site is one cheeky mofo! I reckon you should report it but take what E139AZ has suggested into account.
I already reported them. I have no clue about their prices, didn't bother to look. I know what we do and I also know what 90% of other "custom cabinet companies" do, we do better work 9 out of ten times. probably sounds arrogant, but it's true. I'd venture to say our prices are probably 2x what theirs are, that's usually the case. In the end, "you get what you pay for". =X Either way, their tactics are a bit grimy so I reported em. =\
http://www.wallunitwarehouse.com/face_frame_small.htm That's awesome. been looking for a wall unit for an hdtv!
That's what I'm talking about. That url you linked to is where they claim to sell custom face frames for your wall units. I guess they claim to custom match any color/stain/glaze? Funny thing is, if you look close at the frame around the TV, they cant even match it to the rest of the unit. It's off, the entire color is off and doesn't match. And this is what, the best they can do? You usually save the best work for pictures and webpages. I'd hate to see what they do on an off day. And if you saw it in real life, the situation would be worse. There's a lot more to finishing that having some paint or stain supplier match a sample and then calling that "custom". Custom is when we have 30 cans different color stains and paints on a table mixing, matching, and tinkering until you get it. Sometimes the process of matching a sample can take a entire day, maybe even two days! A dash of this, a cup of that, put it on the wood to see what it looks like, needs some more of this, and a bit of that, add it to the wood and see what we have. Do that about 10 times unit it's literally exact, and thats "custom".
even if you do "call him in and report him on it," they're not likely to remove or penalize his site. google states in multiple places that they don't use spam reports to remove individual sites, but instead to improve their algorithms to catch spam.
In agreement here, they must have a colourblind person working for them and taking the photos. Looks like a one coat paint job. You would've thought that they would tinker with the colour in Photoshop if it wasn't an exact match.
Yes, definitely, and there is a very, very good chance they will be penalized and/or removed from the index until the keyword stuffing and bogus images are removed. Here's a link: http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html
