Is this kind of weird to put on a blog?

Recently I put how much I owe each credit card company on my blog. I thought maybe if I can visualize my goal on the web and that if other users can view my goal, then it could help with getting referrals and whatnot.

Anyway, I got this idea from another blog user who has this same thing.. Poor guy is in even more debt than I!

What do you guys think, is it kind of weird to have that, though? I mean, even though the debt is form college and medical bills, does it look irresponsible?

Some people manage to get visitors to donate to pay off their bills. It's not something I would do though.

It might do you some good, but then there are a lot of unscrupulous people waiting for a something like this every single day. I would not have done this.

I think you are safe as long as you didn't provide any of your other account information...maybe it should just be listed as credit card #1 and the balance.

I had the same thoughts about my credit card debt and I made a Squidoo lens about it. What's your blogs url? I would like to read it.

to this sounds like a not very good idea. Why would you do that anyway? Put yourself in the shoes of your visitors. Would you like to know about that? Don't think so!

If it's part of your marketing strategy and its goal is to show your progress, then it might be a good idea. However, if it's just to whine about (I think it's not the case) and ask for pennies, it's definitely a bad thing to do :)

Could work with some visitors and alienate others. I also question if the ad agencies would consider it a plea to click on the adds.

I've seen people do similar things to this. Some people list their entire monthly financial statements.

I don't see how it could hurt you. I put a donation for a 200K house I want to buy in the near future.

That's really cool. I want to eventually buy a house in a bad neighborhood. I hope that by fixing up the ugliest house in the neighborhood, some people may want to live in that neighborhood. There are a lot of boarded up, abandoned houses in the city I want to do this is. I mean, I know it's just a little drop in the bucket, but without drops, you can't fill it up.

I have seen a lot of people posting financial goals... and of course listing their debts and estimated dates of becoming debt-free. As long as you are not posting any information that can be used to identify anything then you should be fine.
