    Hey all,
I was on another forum reading a few threads and ran across this post. Can someone verify whether this is correct or not?

"Stay away from them... If you're linking out to "bad neighborhoods", you will be banned by Google in a heartbeat. If there is just 1 "bad" site in this webring, the neighborhood becomes bad and you'll get docked."

    cheers
    Frank

If you are not in control of the spiderable outbound links on your site, then there is always a possibility that you could get penalized for linking to a bad neighborhood.

Thanks to everyone for all their feedback. I think I'm going to possibly pull some webrings, just for safety sakes. However all the webrings I registered in are through webrings.com ... 99% of the sites are ligit and decent with great moderators. They pull some traffic but have noticed that they do little for SERPs and the links are usually
    www.something.com/go?blah blah.

    cheers

Actually... SERPS for the site from which I am linking to those supposed "bad neighborhoods" have been improving steadily and rapidly for several months.

Will & ferret77, were the sites you were linking to engaging in bannable offenses per Google's (or other's) guidelines? Just because a site is in the gambling or pharmaceutical industry does not mean that it is part of a bad neighborhood. Tell me you were linking to a site that was PR0 & banned and it didn't affect your site and your input here will be infinitely more meaningful IMO.
