Shows you haven't really got a clue then, you never know when a company might take the view to sue for trademark infringement. It ain't all about copyright its about protecting a service mark.
From what I hear, this could be a tatic to be offered a buy out from large companies. It was in the news in fact the other day. Apparently it is a bit of a business to closely mirror a name and become aggravating enough that while suing may not work or be extremely costly, a purchase can be arranged to get rid of the offender.
They would most likely just send a cease and desist letter in which case he would take the sites down, I don't think he would get sued or anything
Alexadirectory is nice because there is so many big directories starting with A****directory, that I bet it gets some typo traffic with people trying to remember the word of the directory, and getting confused with the alexa traffic site.
That's why Alexa would probably get annoyed in the end, but could they do anything about it. Of course people would or could benefit from typos, Alexa can't do nothing about that side of it as they should have protected the name. But as for making a directory with the genuine attempt to profit from another well known name offering a same or simular service, well..that's another thing.
You'd think so.. But jagex came after me for having a forum realted to one of there online games "Runescape"
