i just launched my site today and already made $8.15 off referrals and ad unit clicks.. with little promotion

Am I think that is bad, specially because if you promoted site... you won't do this that way for long. So referral can be only one for each "person" and for each product. But clicking on ads isn't limited and will bring money for each click.
