I bought and built the domain name SalesIndustry.net a few months ago. The website is targeted towards my industry, Freight/Transportation. The website is now ranked number one for the search term "Sales Industry" and "Freight Sales", both of which have started bringing me 100+ hits a day and over $11 adsense in less than a month. The rank for these terms has rotated between first place and third place for a few weeks. I was shocked to see it ranked right above business.com! Am I doing something right or is this a fluke? I was about to sell this domain the other day for $100. Should I sell or keep monetizing the site? Should I make the site into a blog, keeping the pages that are indexed, and keep fresh content on the site? Or should I sell?
If you are going to sell don't sell it for $100! If you have the time keep on developing the site and adding more fresh optimized content.
Dont sell it. Try to develop the content and You can increase the earnings.. If u want to sell, sell for higher rate......Use sedo.com or godaddy.com
Thanks everyone. I didnt post, but just checked. It has made $8+ just today in adsense. I am thinking of making it a wordpress that looks like a static site for the purpose of ease of adding new content. I also have about 10 more sites just like it that I need to seo the same way.
If you are not using any blackhat tactic then you are on the right track. You are doing well in search engines. And if you are getting 100+ hits a day, increase it. If all you do is right then you can easily earn over 100+$ a day, without selling your website. Another thing, don't make site into a blog, but make a blog inside the website. Install a blog in a subdirectory and write some digg-bait content it will automatically bring you traffic, and you can even earn with your blog. Don't sell the website right away. Wait for atleast a year, I think your website can get you much traffic from search engines. Keep It Up.
The question was whether it was good seo or just a fluke. I believe your rank for "sales industry" is largely due to your domain name which exactly matches the keyword.
Keep developing your site to get more traffic from the search engines. Don't sell it, it could become a successful website if you work hard on it.
Great job! Don't sell it. Your site can still be improved, in terms of traffic. Getting 100+ hits per day is not that great, aim for even higher.
I suggest you keep your website on your own, I it as a good website; plus you had extra income from its adsense.
dont sell it keep it think of ways to monetise it with new keyword targeting and long tail keyword research if you can make $8 then $80 should be no problem in some time
Let me make you clear one thing. I failed to found valid backlinks in google for SalesIndustry.net and no page rank is assigned yet. In yahoo 29 backlinks found. I hope your domain is at least 6 months old or roughly 7 months so we cannot say anything about whether you use any black hat or not for promoting your site .
Keep it, sounds like your onto a winner. Your domain name may have a lot to do with it, and it also depends on the amount of competition and strength of that competition for those particular keywords. Keep building links and putting up quality content and you will increase your visitor numbers and adsense.
All the hard earned reputation down the drain. Don't sell it at any cost, just keep working hard and hard. It may be $11 now but may reach to $1100 soon
You'd be a fool not to keep it. I'd develop it, and make some serious money from the site if I were you. Best of luck!
