I'm trying to transfer my domain name from eNom to Namecheap. Today I received an e-mail asking me to verify the transfer of my domain name. In order to verify the transfer, it asks me to click on a link that looks like this: http://transfer-approval.com/u.asp?id=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx The e-mail is from: info@transfer-approval.com It makes me paranoid that the e-mail isn't from eNom or Namecheap. I just wanted to verify the authenticity of this e-mail to make sure it isn't fake. I'm getting mixed answers - some say it's real and some say it's a trick. Thanks!
no. if he asked the transfer, and the link redirects to the real place, thats a real email. I got this kind of emails everytime i make a transfer EDIT: That domain is owned by enom.com http://whois.ws/domain_information-com/enom.com/
I did, but it doesn't seem to be helping me much. 2 people from Namecheap say it's legit. 2 people from eNom claim it's fake.
if he asked the transfer most likely its a real email. there is a chance to be fake. but he did ask the transfer. and there is a easy way to be 100% sure it is real: if the link opens in http://transfer-approval.com/u.asp?id=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx then its true.
Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean by "if the link opens"? I agree. It should be posted on both of their websites somewhere. Transferring a domain name shouldn't be a guessing game.
its surely legit as u got the email only when u wanted to transfer and if u google it u will know thats how it works
like i said, easy to check click on the link if it redirects to http://transfer-approval.com/ than that's ur request.
Considering the 2 responses from both Namecheap and eNom you posted, I'd have to agree. Tell you what: PM their CEO about it.
Thanks guys for your help. I came to the conclusion that it's real. I spoke with two other reps from eNom and they both confirmed that it's legit. I clicked on the link and approved the transfer, several hours later my domain was transferred without any problems.
