The below package is what my long time hosting company offered me for my dedicated server, what do you think?

    . Level(3), Internap, TimeWarner Telecom
. Multiple Gigabit Connections from different carriers
. 24x7 Online Support via email tickets and chat
    . 98% 3rd party customer satisfaction rating !

    Intel Pentium 2.8GHz
    80GB SATA HD
    1GB Memory
    1 Power Supply
    2 IPs
    30 Domain Name Licence
2000GB Monthly Data Transfer (This includes 200GB free)

This is a managed dedicated server as well.

    $294 a month

might be cheaper getting an unmanaged box and getting a 3rd party to manage it, the box it's self will only set you back $100 a month or so depending where you look.

    Shop around.
You could find cheaper solutions, It all depends on the purpose of your box, Some services require "Quality of traffic" such as media streaming and webcam chat programs, Where as others just require "Bulk Traffic" like web hosting.

Well, this company is excellent, they are always helpful and the tech support is amazing. I just want to know if its reasonable, you get what you pay for, so i'm not looking for the cheapest on the block,.

What does "2000GB Monthly Data Transfer (This includes 200GB free)" mean? Do you have 2000GB transfer included or only 200GB and you get charged after that?

You could probably get better specs and equivalent service elsewhere for the same price, especially if there is only 200GB included, but if you are happy with the company and then plan fits your needs, then you have to decide whether or not moving is worth the savings.

Thats...what to say...you can get more than double of this, with management by DC, for a lower price. I'm not advertising, but we do offer Pentium D with 1 G RAM and 1500 G Transfer along with full management and DDoS protection/100 mbit ports for $135.

You need to look somewhere else.

Too much overpriced...these days you can get quad cores at less than $294/mo.
Management doesn't cost too much...@$29 you get service from platinumservermanagement if needed.

This kind of pricing is common with shared hosts who sell managed dedis. Shop around at WHT offers section.

But in retrospect, how can you put a price on reliability? If the support is upbeat and what you always wanted, why degrade yourself?

If you are happy with support and uptime: stay.
There is no need to switch for $20 savings. Lack of support or knowledge elsewhere may cost you much more than the savings in a very short period of time.

Rackspace does offers such config, with fanatical support, firewall and offsite managed backup with premium/tier1 bandwidth for similar price.

You should, surely, look for another provider.

I think it's overpriced. We charge $160 for an Opteron 246 with 2x120GB disks, 2GB RAM and 2TB of bandwidth and an additional $30 a month for management.
We use Time Warner as well so that's premium bandwidth.
Even one of our top spec servers with Quad Core, 4 GB RAM, 2x250GB hard drives, and a bunch of IPs will cost you less than $294.

I can't see how server management and support costs so much. If your host is too confident that he'll keep you, he won't make an effort to offer something better even at the same price. Shop around, but if you decide to stay with them (to avoid the hassle of moving etc) then make sure you get a better bang for your buck.
