Is this decent?

Hi guys and gals. I just made my first website and I decided to make it informative and helpful. I do not have a lot of experience with web design but just let me know on what I could improve upon or if you have any comments.

I know it has no logo but I really don't need one. Iam not a company or offering a service other than information. What do you all think?

The colour choice is unusual, but I like it. It blends together well.

It's alright for a 1st site. I would suggest redoing the left navigation system though. Other than that, it looks decent. Best of luck

 

i like it, simple but affective, now all you need is to bring in traffic to feed google

 

Thank you. I know its not anything crazy but I am glad I am some what on the right track. I am in the process of learning adobe photoshop which should make my next website a little prettier. Once again, thank you for the comments.

Also you mentioned redoing the left navigation. What do you have in mind?

 

The layout could be better. The left colun is hard to read because of the background being black. You might want to change the fonts as well

yes, black yellow and orange are hard colors for users

you have to remember first impressions count, it takes something like microseconds for a user to decide whether they want to stay on a site

 

The site look ok. Change colors because is to "black".
For your first website ... is more than perfect.

may be some paddig around menu items would be good as it will put more emphasis on the navigation items....

Ok ... so I got a decent amount of feedback on the left menu. I went to work and revamped the menu. I added some padding a long with alternating colors. As far as colors go I am not 100 percent sure if those are the ones I should be using , however, their easy to change (just two fields in the css file). Anywho, let me know what you all think of the new left navigation.

P.S. I don't understand why firefox and opera add so many extra spaces around my top menu bar area. If anyone knows let me know. I want it to look like it does in IE.

My two cents,

The Google ads in the header blends into the site so well that I did not see them until I read the above post.

The header tells you nothing about the site.

I would change the header so it tells something about the site and move the Google ads under the header.

 

I think the title dead in the middle tells you enough about the website. I mean do I really need a huge thing on top that says DEBT CONSOLIDATION AND DEBT MANAGEMENT. I didn't think so, but, I mean if it's really necessary I might.
