Hi, Firstly, I've to said this is only my question, meant no offence at all. I were discussed with my friend's, Danny, working in some big calling card company about search engine optimization I do with my site. He told me that is useless to do search engine optimization in hope to get my site ranked well in natural search in search engines. He also said his company, calling card company, was asked by some search engine company to have them paid and get ranked well instantly in general-high competitive keywords like : Se.., flowers, Real estate, even calling card. He said it had been happened 3 years ago. when I heard, I started to think and ask him back about PPC and he said "no" then confirmed me this conspiracy does exists. :( What do you think guys? I think it may possibily for 3 years ago but I'm not sure for now. Does it still exists? Please forgive me if my question is not quite smart. :D

    Regards,

Any random SE company can get you ranked #1 for any word you want. All you have to do is download their crappy software which alters the real results and sticks you at #1. In that sense, its correct. If that's the question

They're scammers everywhere. SEO is alive and well. Maybe not as effective as it was 5 years ago, but basic seo principles go a long way for good rankings.

I bet there are guys at MSN, Yahoo!, and Google who will take bribes and push you to the top.

Just think how much a #1 listing in google for "real estate" would be worth. 10's of thousands, millions even. I'm sure it happens from time to time.

:D Please don't get me wrong. I cannot paid guys from search engine company to get #1 in compettive terms, I cannot afford it for sure. Just asked and my friend's company didn't accept that terms because they (se guys) request too much for "calling card" terms. ;)

I have talked to some directory companies that do have the power to rank your website for crappy keywords but they do not rank YOUR website what they do is create a page about your site, that site will get ranked and then what you hope for is that they follow the link.

I dont think this would be possible with google.

Their algo is not even manipulatible by their own people from what I read somewhere. There would have to be checking systems in place and I am sure that they would have certain isolated groups of people working on different parts of the algo.

So that no one person knows the complete algo.

Otherwise, it could potentially pull an entire large SE down.
