I know you're not supposed to repeat keywords in meta tags, but what if it's like

    computer hardware
    computer software
    computer devices
    computer service

Is this considered spamming of the keyword "computer"?

It won't do you any good even if it is'nt spam.

Those things used to work in the late 90's though.

Actually, I do believe there is one place that will help: in your Title tag. If you set it up like this: Computer Hardware| Computer Software|etc.., you will be ranked better for these terms. They are competitive terms, though; you won't get top 10 for most of those. Pick some well-searched targeted variants and use those keywords in <title> and <description> as well as several times in the content.
Add several thousand anchored links, and you're there!

I know meta tags don't really do much anymore, but since I still include them, I don't want to have them screw me over because they're seen as spam.

There wont be any advantage for the keywords....
Infact they may consider it as a spam but...
if you want to use those keywords you can use them in anchor text, title, description and content...

As a rule you should never have more than the same word more than once in the meta keywords. In this case limit computer to a single use.

It wont be considered as spam but it's pretty much useless.
Meta tags don't work anymore ;)
