I have a site that is dedicated to content , currently with a PR of 3 but it's not getting any higher as the home page has rotating content that is never the same for long. I want to create several sites that will have maybe a page or two of content and a link that points to my principal site and no other links. I am definitely trying to increase my PR but I am also genuinely creating sites with informative content. Is this a 'bad' thing to do?
I dont really get it. You have REFRESHING content, and that much that you create more websites for it? Isnt that a GOOD thing instead?
Well, we have tons of content but our PR is low because people link to the content itself and not our homepage. We can break it up into different verticals but we don't want to risk blowing ourselves up. We figure if we create the foundation of those new sites and just include a link to where they can get more of the same content then we should be ok... I think.
Do whatever makes it easiest for your visitors to find what they're looking for and don't waste time worrying about other things too much Mike
I do believe that Google has implemented something like a link filter. What you see today is not what you should judge your site's performance by.
dont waste time chasing PR it's a dying duck If you have real content generate a G sitemap and make sure the pages are at least linked to common hubs (or main section pages) and these are linked to the home page. If you have IBL's to subpages the more so the better. See it from a visitors perspective. Who wants to land on a homepage for widgets when the real widgetpage is two levels down? Got time to find the two clicks required? I think not.... Expat
Good advice, thanks guys. I'll get working on IBLs and hope that the next PR update has us ranked higher. Organic is the best way to go anyway.
