Is this bad?

    Hi,

I currently have a website in Dutch. Now I'd like to create the same website, but in English now, so I'll translate everything to English. My Dutch website has a PR of 4/10 now. I'll use a subdomain for the english website e.g. en.mywebsite.be. Will this translation affect my pagerank and/or the number of indexed page, my position in the index? Won't google think it's a duplicate site? Will google know it's the same site, but in English?

I don't do this to improve PR, # indexed pages or whatever ... I just want to have my website also available in English. A lot of questions and I hope a lot of answers will follow :)

    Thanks ;)

translating your website in English and using a sub-domain for it will not at be a problem for your main website. Google understand it very well that both the websites are in different languages and there isn't any problem of duplicate content.

    Ok, that's good news.
And IF I would have duplicate content by coincidence, will google still don't bother it because it's a subdomain?

There are 6800 known languages spoken and written in the 200 countries of the world. It means a content could also be converted into 6799 languages. Do you think, to check the duplicity of the content, Google will convert that content into 6799 languages and then award your content as duplicate content as that content is already used in any African language 'hululu' ?
    What a Joke...:p:p

Why are you so much interested in making a new site. You just want translation of your site than add some translator with it like google translator. Thats enough. But if you are looking to target english speaking people also than its worth to make a new translated site of your original site.

My goal is to get a new range of visitors. With this English version, I'll be able to add English news, there will be a forum for non-dutch speaking people so a translator isn't sufficient.
