I am wandering how well I should incorparated my keywords into my meta description/ how much time i should spend on it (the site i'm working on has lots of pages).

is this article a reliable source??

    http://www.highrankings.com/metadescription.htm

"In other words, whether you use your important keyword phrases in your Meta description tag or not, it won't affect the position of your page in the SERPs for the words that are important to you. In fact, you could easily leave it out altogether."

    thanks all.

Yeah, it is correct. I don't think there are many that would argue that it significantly helps in ranking. But writing good meta description tags can help with getting more click throughs in the Serps, so it is still worth writing them if you have the time.

Some search engine still gives value to meta tags. It also help in differentiating the page from other page within the site by creating unique meta description in each page.

I'm not sure how much value META keywords have these days, but the META description is definitely important for the reasons others have identified here. Even if META keywords aren't significant, analyzing keyword phrases can help you identify what's important for content, which definitely affects rankings.

SEs factor meta tags into SERPs. Reasonably, a site with a relevant title should be considered more relevant than one without.

This is an old post by Jill. Though Meta tags have very less effects, but description tag is still very much important. A well written description helps! Don't ignore this :)
