Is this an effective link building strategy?

Hi guys I am fairly new to SEO and am trying to build links so this is what I am doing:

Looking for blogs and commenting on the article. In the space provided it asks for: your name, your website , email and comment. So if I just fill in my website in the provided space (although it does not show on the comment) is that effective?

Also I am writing a blog about this and that and at the end I am including my companies links...is that effective even though I don't really think anyone is even reading my blogs, but the blog I am writing on has a high page ranking.

Also I am commenting forums with my link in the signature? does that work too???

Yikes I don't really know what I am doing! Some input from you pros would be greatly appreaciated!!!

    thanks!

It would work just be sure that they are dofollow. If not then all your hard work are worthless.

If you want to ranked in Search Engines you have to increase the number of backlinks to your site.
I think you are heading the right way. Also consider about Social bookmarking like digg, stumbleupon, prpeller, mixx, delicious etc.
when you are commenting in blogs, make sure that the blog is do-follow. Otherwise commenting a no-follow blog and getting a backlink to your site is useless. It is a waste of time since a no-follow link will not help in indexing in search engines.
Using forum signatures to get a backlink is a good method since most of the forum signatures are do-follow including DP.

Check the source code of your link, for rel='nofollow' attribute. If it's not there, then it is considered dofollow.

Blog Commenting is a good way to increase backlinks.
They do counts in Yahoo and Google Webmaster Tools, but not in link:domain operator.

    YeP !!
It's better to post in high page rank blog.
But most of blog comment is No Follow attribute so it's important in Yahoo back link but not in Google.com.
So my suggestion is do work in Do follow attributes Blog comment is better way to you.

yes, commenting on blogs that have been written are a great source of backlinks. just make sure they are dofollow blogs. There are several lists out there of dofollow blog links. Just make sure you make appropriate statements and the moderator will give you the posting.

    Hello...

    Your plan stinks...
and you will be wasting more time and energy then what its worth

if you own a "business" then you hopefully allocated a small amount of advert budget
for your new site and wont be forced to do spammy/shady techniques like looking for blogs
to submit comments to or wasting time commenting in forums when that time should have gone into
building the sites content and other associated tasks...

The best link building is a diversified one ;)

If you have a "few hundred dollars to one thousand" to invest on your site then this is what i would do...

    1. Directory submissions (1500+ and on constant basis)
    2. Article Submissions (write a few articles and submit to 800+)
    3. Bookmarking Service (have your site sent to all networking sites 100+)
    4. Press Release (have site submitted to all major PR sites 100+)
    5. Adverts & Links on blogs/sites/forums (make banners and find relevant advertisers with high traffic)
    6. PPC (yip expensive but high volume targeted traffic) Last Resort

Doing all these suggestions will surely help build back-links as well as bring in targeted traffic to your site
within a few short weeks and months as well as send traffic forever...

If your a non believer then PM me and ill show you a site 2 months old thats already on the
first pages on most SEs for its chosen anchor text used and is very close to getting 3000 uniques
    in just this month :D

Good luck with your site :)

    laterz

Try using search status.. You'll automatically detect a website that are no-follow.

Considering you are focusing on cellphones, I would make sure you are a regular contributor to cellphone forums and include your signatures. This is the best bet.
