    This website has a search code to do the searches. Is this allowed?

    Ads can be placed on a content based page, a google custom search box and a logo is not content.

    That particular site uses adsense for content only. It does not use adsense for the search function.

    Unless you dont add your adsense id in the search box, you cant get banned. (unless your site contains other ad units and something with them is wrong).
