Okay this is an Adsense problem with a legal twist. I'm thinking of running a script that will basically send a text message from a website (yup simple easy). Now the script is powered by a company. The company provides the service free. A programmer programmed the script so that instead of using e-mail the user would fill out a form blah blah blah to acheive the same result. Now if I monetize this site with adsense and earn money, will the original company be upset and/or sue me? Skinny
You would need to look at the license for the software to see if its allowed. You can always contact the owners of the software and ask to purchase a commercial license.
Hmm seems I can't clarify. Okay THE COMPANY uses a script by wich you submit an e-mail to them like . The content is the text message. The COMPANY processes the e-mail and then delivers the text message. A script writer bascially uses a form to gather the number, subject, and message to text and basically puts together an email and fires it off to the COMPANY. Basically I'd be hosting this simple script and I was wondering if I could monetize it? I sent an e-mail to them so we'll wait and see. What's your opinion. Skinny
Well, either the coder or the company owns the copyright of the script. If you use the script without their consent, then that would be a copyright violation and they could possibly sue you. At least that's what I can gather from the info...
Well the owner of the script, the guy who coded it doesn't have a problem. Actually the script is up here:http://www.vluf.com. But no adsense ATM as I am waiting for a response from the company. The company didn't code the script but uses the technology (email that sends a text message). Skinny
