I'm new to CJ and this is my question:

I was wondering if it is allowed to grab the link from a banner (where you go when you click it) and use this to promote a product on forums and social groups.

    Thanks In Advance

You have to direct them to a landing page... you can't direct them directly from your ad to the affiliate.

CJ will spank you for that.

I don't see why this is a problem for them, and how can they know you are doing that ?

I don't know how they know, nor do I even care why this is an issue with them. I do know I did it once by accident and instead of directing the people to my site (which is what I really want anyway), I had the link for CJ in the post.

CJ found it somehow and sent me an email and told me to take it down or risk my account.

Since I do a lot of business with them and since that is the right thing to do, I complied no questions asked and sent them a link to show them that I complied.

I believe that biting the hand that feeds you is a negative thing to do.

    Direct people to your site.

That's the best method anyway because you may have other offers or products they would want.

The site I make the most money with using affiliate marketing has 41 pages with all related items for sale.

More often than not, someone goes there for one reason and spends money on another item as well.

You need to treat your website as if you had a brick and mortar building with isles and shelving with products displayed in such a manner that it was enticing for a buyer to open their wallet and spend.

I don't know if url forwarding is allowed... I think that is poor business myself. I want people walking around my sites.

I would remove the offers from the forums if possible because at some point, CJ may find them and you'll get an email that will make you a tad nervous.

Hi Luigi777-- it depends entirely on the merchant. If the merchant is active with CJ, they might find out. If the merchant is not active, you can get away with just about anything.

Why do you specifically want to use a banner link? Can you use a text link or some other link for that merchant?

There are a lot of auto-pilot merchants on CJ who don't police their affiliates. While some behaviour will be caught by CJ's systems, much of it will fly under their radar. A sure way not to get caught? don't send much volume, and not all from one place.

Not that I condone any of that, and affiliate links in forum posts won't make you any money-- it'll just serve to piss off the other members and the admins.

Um and you won't get paid? WTF? If a merchant is active you get paid to sell and promote those items as there TOS. If a merchant is INACTIVE you will not get paid and you are that INACTIVE merchants BEST FRIEND.
What you need to do if you have a product and you would like to post links in your sig. Ask The merchant for a content page I have asked plenty of merchants who didn't have them in cj glady make a few and hand them over. Get a good domain/webhosting service put the content that the merchant gave you, and post the link to your site in your sig. I can guarantee you that if you SPAM forums you will be banned and not just sign back up but a IP ban in which you will have to change or use a proxy and remember to use that proxy every time you sign in. Be tasteful and remember to get a good domain preferably one that resembles the item you want to sell/ not something like
www jammerstoodles com and you are selling toothpaste?

I'm promoting one some forums, but I don't spam. I've had 1,768 Impressions and 81 clicks this month, that's not so bad ain't it ?
But so I should contact the merchant and tell him I'm doing this ?
