i was browsing some websites when i cam across a myspace site called mynicespace.com... i realized that most of his ads were about loans so i clicked view source and found this in his code: google_ad_client = "pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX"; google_hints = "consolidate student loan loans consolidation consolidating"; google_alternate_ad_url = "http://www.mynicespace.com/adv/alt-300x250.html"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; google_ad_format = "300x250_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; google_ad_channel ="0061990775"; google_color_border = "FFFFFF"; google_color_bg = "FFFFFF"; google_color_link = "0000FF"; google_color_url = "000000"; google_color_text = "000000"; is that allowed? ive never seen it before...
i just did a search on google and came across this http://www.websitepublisher.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2780 i also just emailed GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGLE and asked them about it. We'll see what BIG G says!
theres pros and cons to that.. pro is you can make more per click con is it doesnt related to your site so your gonna recieve less clicks
huh, why would google actually have an identifier called "google_hints" if it was not legal? it must be OK to use it since they implemented that variable in their javascript code, no?
Sounds a bit like what YPN does -- ad targeting, whereby you can indicate which category best fits your site down to the page, so you ensure you only get ads (mostly) from that category.
