Is this a way around hiding keywords?

    Hi everyone.

I am new to SEO and to this forum so take it easy on me.......

In no way shape or form am I trying to keyword stuff any site, however I would like to include my main keyword in the top and very beginning of my site. Doing this negatively hurts my design visually and I was wondering if I could get way with inserting a table, this table will have a background image of a solid square box all in the color green. Then my text will be the same color, now the SE cannot determine what color an image is or what it contains. That’s why those security images are popping out everywhere. Now, just to recap - the background of the table and the whole site is white, so this is not white on white or black on black. This is simply a background image in a table that is the same color as the text that I will be inserting in that particular table.
Could I get away with this? Is this something clever to do or this simply will not work?

    Thanks

I don't think the search engines will be able to detect that. However, your competitors will and your site could get banned when they report you to the search engines. So I don't recommend this at all.

Matt Cutts from google claims they have a way of detecting hidden text using css. I don't know if they can detect this using a background image. If they do, you will get a 30 day penalty. Why don't you use absolute positioning which allows you to place content in the code any where you want, but display it in another position?

This is not suggested by most SEO experts, because it will be get banned by google. But why you don't put the text in your description tag, and submit this description to many directories? Another way is that design your website with images or javascript, and then put the texts after them. Google can't detect the texts in images and some javascripts, so the texts will be the first content which will be collect by google.

Sort of, but majority of SEOs use CTRL+A(select all) command to search for words. Although, if you want to hide your keywords that some SEOs could not see, try hiding it using CSS.
