    Hey,

    Need some help.
I want to know if this email is a scam?

I received an email from him, saying he is interested in my domain and asked for a price. I gave him a price around low $xxx and he replied with:

I told him I only do transfers using escrow.

How safe should it be? and what advices can I take to prevent being scammed?

I knew it was a scam.

    Got this reply:

This is one of those scams, where he wants me to pay for his expensive appraisal and then do a runner.

Just a warning to everyone, so if you received the same kind of email and manage to search up this thread, you will know what to do :).

I kind of knew it was a scam though, but you never know sometimes.
Just making sure, no need to be rude.

I actually sold a site for $xxxxx before via a similar email, with no problems and nothing about appraisals.
If I was stupid, I would have fallen for it and paid for the appraisal. Its always better to make sure.

Yea i apologize for that but i cound't come up with a better suiting word due to my poor english.Anyway, like you said, that you sold another name and you were contacted by e-mail.Thats a common thing, but it has to pup into your head automaticlly that anyone who wants to buy your domain name for xx.xxx, already knows exactlly how much its worth (to him only/or market). That shouldave been the only sign you needed to know this is a scam.Whoever has this kind of money and plays this game probablly already appraised your name with some professionals firs if it wouldave been for market re-sell.If it was for hes own/company use he just wants it and knows exactlly how much hes willing to pay.
    Again i apologize.Cheers!

Tons of automated mail. If the money to be exchanged is anything significant, always use escrow. You can't trust anyone unless they are local and youc an sue them.

I got similar e-mail about two weeks ago. I believed him, got an appraisal and spent some money.
Everytime he delayed sales of domains. Stupid me.
    Here is his e-mail:

come on guys. We know this is there way of marketing their site and making money.

Everyday I seem to get emails from people wanting me to buy their crappy domains, so I write back offering them the chance to buy my crappy domains.
If someone wrote to me saying they want the site evaluated, promise them you will but tell them they have to prove they are serious and not some kid wasting your time, get them to prove it by demanding a $1 / $10 / $100 deposit and you keep that and have it valuated from another online site (like siteprice) or something.
