I have a client who contacted me and want to order 50 products that come to a total of $6400 dollars. He said I should email Airtimeshippers@gmail.com to get the freight cost to Ghana and that this company "Airtimeshippers@gmail.com" will come and pick it up from my location. He said first get the freight cost, then he will pay with his credit card, then the freight company will come pick it up. I did a google search and got this: http://airtimeshippers.wetpaint.com/page/Contact++++++++Us How legit is this? or a scam. what procautions should I take in dealing with this transaction?
I suppose it's a scam if your buyer demands that you hand over the products to the said "freight company" without paying you first. P.S. I have just read the next thread started by dubs89. Smells fishy alright!
He said first get the freight cost, then he will pay with his credit card, then the freight company will come pick it up.
Once you receive the buyers credit card number, call your merchant processor. They can give you the card issuing bank phone number. With that, you can confirm that the user is indeed who he is supposed to be and authorized to act on the card. Remember this, the one that typically pays for the fraudulent transaction is the merchant. We've run into this a few times with sales to Russia and a few EU countries. You need to make sure you cover every aspect and document everything you have done, who you spoke to, the date and time, etc. If the charge turns into a charge back, you could be out product and cash. From what it sounds like, it's a scam. The only way you can make any form of definitive decision is to cover all your bases by validating everything you can. I hope that helps to some degree. -Bing
That's really risky as it involved $6400, tell him to send a bank draft instead or use services like Western Union, once you get the money then you send him the order, if he disagreed then it would be best to avoid this order if you can't risk losing that amount of money.
usually orders from african countries have high fraud! if i were you i wouldnt do business with them.
ide say scam, ghana alone brings the likelyhoodof it being a scam up to about 90% let alone the roundabout way he is doing business. if he will change his payment method to something more solid i would do it as long as payment is upfront.
From my personal experience, I guarantee you that "SCAM" is what you are talking about. Anyway, you are intelligent to share it in public sharing places like DP, so that you will get wise advice.. All the best and Take care ! Solace
like people said,it is a scam. it is a known scam. what will happen is,he'll pay you the shipping cost and then he'll want you to pay the "freight company".later you'll find out that the credit card is stolen. so,not only did they steal your products, they took your cash because the "freight company" is he's friend. asume it is a scam if they want their "freight company" to do the shipping.
It's hard to trust instincts when such potential earning is involved . But I agree with what people already said. It probably is a scam.
That someone would need to ask the question is a bit off setting, just look at that website. Does it really look like a website a real company would have? Look at the host, "wetpaint" "where super fans are superstars" Come on, its like buying a car from a dealership with a geocities website. Don't spend so much time on things like this, there are too many scam in the world to spend time inspecting something so obvious.
if in doubt, don't go through with it. i've cancelled orders on instinct before after looking at all the data and it has saved me money as you get charged if it turns out to be fraudulent.
Be careful dude, you must check it first...it was happen to me, but other company. Don't believe before you check by your own self...
