Yesterday I played basketball with a group of friends for the first time in about 8 months. Since I stopped playing last I hit the gym 3 times a week working on legs 1 day a week. I'm 5 foot 10 and after trying to touch the rim of the 10 foot goal yesterday I noticed I was only about half an inch for actually touching it. I'm going to college and 5 months and thought it would be pretty impressive going to the rec center, playing ball, and dunking it at my height. So do you guys actually think it's a realistic and possible goal to increase my vertical by probably 5 inches? (assuming that's what I will need to get the ball over the rim and dunk). If so, do you know of any good workout that increase your vertical?
Dont know if you can increase it by 5 inches, but 2-3 inches is possible. It all depends on your age. Males stop growing at about 21, but you can still gain a couple of inches with proper exercises. Try some yoga that works the spine, and exercises that will lengthen your shin. You will also need good sleep and proper nutrition. Sorry I am not an expert in prescribing exercises, so I would say use google and find some reputable sites. If done properly you can grow 2-3 inches. My friends have grown taller, so it can be done.
