About 1 week ago i started my new website - http:// buyparfums . com. I got the site indexed in a few hours with a few (6-7) links from social bookmarking sites and article directories. Afterthat every day i added about 6-7 links from directories to my site, but this site is still in 12-13 for a keyword with low competition, not mentioning the keyword with height competition - i cant even find it in top 300 results. In this time i have done some minor changes with the site while it was indexed by google - i have fixed the permalinks and fix all problems with duplicate content ( http:// buyparfums.com/product ; http:// buyparfums.com/manufacter/product ; http:// buyparfums.com/category/product were the same and i fixed this - now the only link of this type is http:// buyparfums.com/product ). So now i have indexed pages (about 70) with permalinks with id=? .... and with seo friendly links. Should i weight for a while and not add any king of links to my website :? Im sorry for my bad English
I've just written a possible explanation on a similar thread, you might want to check it out: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=13575033&postcount=9 Or if you're lazy which hopefully isn't, here is the message:
Excuse me, I read something else Have you put an exact 301 redirect in place? If that's the case, just work further on your website. As long as it's a 301 redirect, there shouldn't be any kind of problem
Just make sure that: http://domain.com/oldlink.html Code (markup): redirects with a 301 redirect to: http://domain.com/newlink.html Code (markup): Understand that or not?
So, to summarize your problem, you've done a little on-page optimization, and you've submitted your site to several directories, but you're not getting good placement on competitive SERPs? From what you've said you've done thus far, I wouldn't expect you have do well in competitive serps. URLs that place well in compeditive SERPs have very high qualtiy backlinks, sometimes hundreds or thousands of them. What you need is one way,do follow backlinks on quality, relevant pages that have strong PR and few outbound links. Backlinks from directories won't do it, as they've been heavily de-valued by Google. There are very few directories that are worth submitting to anymore.
The competition is not so big - about 1 500 000 indexed pages. I think i have done well for 2 months on my other site who is optimized for the same words. For now he is at 11 place and i think its going on 1st page in few days. Yes, i will try to get us much as possible high qualitty dofollow links In few weeks i will atempt to start a site for flash games. How should i proceed with the onsite seo on my flash site? Robots.txt ... etc...
You don't measure competition by number of indexed pages. You measure competition by number of websites that have the search phrase your are targetting in the meta title or URL. I'd also recommend having a close look at the volume of searches your targeted key phrase does. You can use the google keyword tool to give you an idea of both competition and volume of searches per month. Make sure you select *exact* search type. Always start with key phrase analysis. Come up with a good 10-20 key phrases that you think you can realistically rank well for, and that will bring you a decent amount of traffic if you do. Once you have your key phrases picked out, then you can begin to work on your on page optimization.
