If two people are running liquor stores, and one of them is using extortion to get his supplies, is he your competitor? Of course not. He's an extortionist and should spend the next 5-10 years in prison.
dude whats up with you and liquor stores? think of it like the internet is a big playground... if your swinging on the swings and someone swings higher and you try to get higher than them... thats competition, and who says that this dudes competitor is cheating the system? Big G obviously allows it in their algorithm.
Okay, let's take your playground example then. You have a bunch of people swinging on the swingset. Someone comes along and starts pushing people off so he and his friends can swing instead. What would you do? (Oh, and with regard to the liquor stores, what would you prefer? 7-11s?)
someone pushing you off of the swing set would be like reporting it to google. haha thanks for the example. yeah... 7-11's are fun... I would be scared to go in a liquor store now because of the extortion that goes on. (Ipreferred not to use that example because you are placing a negative connotation on your argument.)
Eh, the beer joints were just easy targets to pick on. I could have easily made it an unlicensed day care center. But seriously - back to the playgorund analogy. That's exactly what the link farmers and other SEO spammers do - they're pushing legitimate sites (kids) off the listings (swings) so they can take their spots. And that kind of activity needs to be reported and dealt with.
I can see your side of it... but I just cant get to that point, I actually enjoy it when someone starts to link spam their sites and try to beat me out because it just gives me that feeling after I beat them out that genuine work and legitimacy to my sites will always prove to be successful. Anyways when they link spam those do get removed and expire over time so essentially it is just a quick fix to their site when you have a giant over on the other side that is respected by its particular community... Back to the playground: Its like they try to push me off the swing but then my buddy Big G comes over and beats them up while I just get back on the swing and keep on swinging. Im just not big on reporting because I really enjoy the competition as I have probably said 100 times.
This is not competition, this is blackhat SEO/cheating...whatever you wanna call it, but this is not competiotion, take a closer look to the site, you will see there is no content, no function of the site and many links in wikipedia.... I'm busting my ass to do a good work with my site and they get PR5 from nothing, from cheating.... whatever i better go to sleep i hate them !
Link farm is dangerous for a website. Google and other Search engines will banned those website which used link farming to increase the ranking
I think you need to do your regular work, Once search engine will find the link farms search engines remove link farms from their directories.
@seosapien getting reported to G sucks when you loose a money site. or when you loose a large 100 site farm. not saying it's happened to me mind you but i have to say...as bad as i might 'imagine' that would suck....i consider it fair play. getting top SERPS is a competition. and a competition without any rules. A blackhat could come along anyday and exploit their way above my whitehat sites. nothing i can do but sit and wait at that point. if farms get caught, then they weren't built correctly IMO
i would kill them i'm busting my a$$ working to get a site up in SERP and they are getting hundrets with theyr black-hat methods, google is not doing anything, i reported the site, but is still up and stii having PR5, god damn it!
Are you sure its a link farm? looks more like an autoblog to me, each content on different subdomain, except it doesnt scrap the content just the link.
