Question for you guys: Do you think there is a profitable niche related to making friends? Are there enough people who struggle in this area, are actively looking for a solution and would spend money to learn how to make friends easily?
I would say there is a significant number. That being said: do some research on what competing alternative exists and understand why you are superior (to some people) than the current offer.
Facebook did rather well! But seriously - there are lots out there already. On the plus side, they do well, on the negative side, you've got plenty of competition. Although some of them (like FriendFinder.com) have drifted more into the online dating space.

I'm not thinking about launching another site for meeting people and making friends. I'm thinking about an information product that teaches people how to be more sociable and how to make friends.
Try your main keywords in the google key word tool. It will give you an Idea of how many searches are done and also the level of adwords competition
