Is this a good link building strategy?

    Hi,

I've created a tool that allows anyone with a non zero pagerank page to get a free backlink from my site. Basically, my site dynamically generates simple reports on any URL, and each report contains a link to the given url.

So anyone who points a link at their report will get a reciprocal link. And Google will find the link when it follows the link to the report page.

Is such a strategy good for link building? The dynamic reports will only really be indexed if external pages link to them, though I do have a full list of websites available, I don't think the search engines will really look at them that much.

Any thoughts and/or comments would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    fcmisc.

Well, the link you would be giving out would be worthless since they would be the only one linking to it, and it is a reciprocal. I'm not sure you would get many people to go for it. You would also have to make sure your not linking out to 'spammy' sites.

The best way to get people to link to it would be to provide great site information for the users, making them want to link to it.

You are well on your way to doing this, but adding even more would be great. In my check your backlinks posts on my blog, many of the tools have a bunch of information that people want to see in one page (Alexa, pr, backlink count, etc, etc, etc)

Links aren't necessarily reciprocal. They can be from anywhere. For example, they could be posted on this forum, or socially bookmarked.

There will also be links from my index pages.

To prevent linking to spammy sites, I've filtered it to use nofollow to pages with zero page rank.

Thanks for the feedback. Any tips on what else people would like to see? I've listed all the stuff I normally look at when I do research into websites.
