Is this a good idea?

    Is it a good idea to build links to a welcome page which contains some of the keywords I would like to rank for? Or should I just go ahead and launch my site. I'm trying to avoid having a forum with just posts from the admin.

    Also, do links which do not link directly to your website, but to a page that redirects to your website help you at all?

    It's going to be mainly a forum yes, although it will have other content on the website.

    Edit: is redirection something that will hurt me?
