i have about 300,000 pages indexed on google now the other 5 or so top sites in my niche category i wanna get some incoming links too to big up my pr so what im doing is emailing them offering them a text link at the bottom of all my pages to there home page in return for the same from them. some of them have 10-50k pages listed in google could google penalise me for having so many links from one site? is this a good idea or a bad idea? thanks in advance
Do you mean sitewide? Hmm... Sitewides are not worth much more than single backlink from main page, but there are other ideas too. If you get many positive answers, then it could be strange for G. but I would not count on it to much.
I would not get the sitewides. I'd find the highest ranking pages from those sites and try and buy links on those pages - that is: the ones most relevant to your niche.
IMO it's not a good idea. Most search engines doesn't like too much sitewide links. Try to get links from only a few pages not sitewide, and if you can afford it, get one-way links instead of links exchange.
Link exchanges with niche related sites is definitely not a bad idea. Google won't penalize you but don't exaggerate with the number of links on a single page.
i think it's a good idea but there are somthink that you must allways remember * if the link are related to your site, this will help you. links from non related sites will not help you. * if you add so many links to your site, G may consider your site as a link farm becaus of this you must limit the outgoing link number
It is the great ideas for sitewide links. You will get more visitors who searched and found the page your link listed and they clicked on your link. You will get at least 1 unique visitor. Though those sites get indexed for 10k pages, but they will be found in the different keywords and the different positions. It is not too bad.
do sitewide links actually work against you? are single page links actually better or are they just cheaper?
I do think sitewide links, if they form the majority of your links, are a big flag to google: these people are buying links. And once that flag is up, your site will get less far in the serps. And if your site already has a good link-profile, which this site must have or all those pages wouldn't be indexed, why risk getting closer to the 'spam-warning' line? It may be more work to get quality direct single links, but it is certainly less risky.
I also think sitewide is not a good idea. Links from one domain should be different types, in different parts of the page, not just at the bottom of the page. I read that Google takes that into consideration.
Siteiwde links are often considered unatural by the search engines so are not given as much weight as a link within content - but they will still pass some SE Juice. Also if you are directly reciporcating the links they will be worth even less. It 100% WILL NOT damage you but don't expect major SERP jumps. If your competitors sites have more traffic than you then definately go for it because it won't damage your SERPs, may improve them, and will bring you more traffic. Also consider asking to write content for your competitor so you can link back to your site within the articles you write for them.
thanks for the feedback people much appreciated ive seen that on one of the sites i have got link exchange with about 5 of the pages has pr4 and the rest had nothing what i think il do is put my links on 5 pages on my site and ask for them 5 pages to link from if poss. the ones with the pr are going to be more important than thousands without i guess?
