Hi, ive got a site that im wanting to market, Ive never paid for a banner on another site, but am wanting to try it.. But, can anyone tell me what they think to this deal. It works out, about 100 U.S. per month, with a minimum of 3 months, the page where the banner would sit gets approx 43,000 page views per month, with a banner CTR of approx 0.2%. By my calculations that works out to about 3 clicks per day and i fail to see how this would convert. No that does not seem like a good deal, especially if you don't see how any of those clicks would convert. You would be better off spending $100 a month on Google Adwords.
Uncertainty is a big no-no in such a business. Go with PPC and do a study before you do anything else and see a way to get more conversions. I checked the forum where you have your banner. The forum gets a lot of traffic indeed and it is close related to your niche. You should try PPC if you didn't already as you need how the results compare. In the end you will go with the best.
3 Clicks a Day means 90 Clicks a month for $100. So, thats $1.10/Click. Seeing the fact that your site has a target audience of Travellers for Thailand, I am sure, you could easily get clicks for $.30 - $.50 using a PPC Network such as Google Adwords and even lower with Yahoo Search Marketing.
You need to know your metrics... how much $$ does each visitor bring you? That will give you the answer....
