is this a good affiliate type domain?

hishair.com is a 10 year old domain that a friend of mine owns. I want to develop the domain which has been stagnant for 10 years, maybe into an affiliate + men's hair advice blog or something more socially oriented and showcasing long ass hair!

I think it has some potential, what would you market to this type of keywords 'his hair' +100,000 searches per month and the potential to rank well on other keyword pairs if I do my research correctly ;)

There are 2 benefits owning domain like this. First is catchy and easy to remember name and the second benefit is "old domain". Older domains do rank better then fresh domains.

How well you can do it with this site is all up too you. Men hair is a big niche and you could do well. "his hair" have about 4.4k daily searches, but also have a lot of competition (about 7,4 mil), which is not that good. Luck for you, competition is not all that strong :).

You could make a good affiliate site out of it, because there is a lot of wig and hair remedy affiliate programs. The only question is how much work you are willing to put in to this site and how "buyable" this niche is.

I would definitely consdier building this site out. For a few reasons and PixelHut explained it well. The 'old domain' factor coupled with the brandable domain name is very strong.

If you don't like the idea of doing a hair loss something or other you could try to make a 'celebrity' website featuring guys hair.. like did you check out brad pitt's hair, like OMG! Hishair.com

The other option is to build it up a bit and then sell it to a hair company.

Sounds like a good plan to develop that one. You could promote some clickbank products or other affiliate products that have to do with men getting better at meeting women, and dating ads from the various affiliate networks. The 'meet women' niche is a pretty profitable one.

Old domains rank better than newer domains, only if they have never expired in that period.

Yeah, definitely something to build on. The domain name alone is something that can really be a great asset in the long run if paired correctly with a good affiliate program and SEO. Good luck mate! Do let us know of your progress. :)

Well it's been exactly a month since the push. I have Wordpress up, it will get a fresh more 'hair' oriented design. It is going to get skinned a little more.

We have social hooks into facebook, twitter, and they are all interconnected via the wibiya toolbar... look for it in beta.

I also implement the RPXnow.com SSO module which lets users create an account using their twitter, facebook, google, yahoo accounts. Another great plug-in for sure.

We are probably going to target the celebrity hair/ sexy hair polls. I am seriously considering developing a user content system to rate guys hair dos and see if it goes viral on facebook, twitter etc.

What do you think of the theme so far? the logo, and page background are in design as I write this... Someone asked for an update, here it is.
