We have been struggling with search engines for years, constantly being frustrated and taken for a ride by companies offering to do the usual "we can get you to page 1 with all your selected keyword" We have had several websites all supposed to be perfectly optimised for the search engines. We have wasted so much money being conned by these people that at one stage we were almost out of business. We recently purchased a BT web build package at a ridiculous sum of £5 a month and designed our own site exactly as we wanted it and it was almost immediately indexed by Google. We then opened an adwords account and I cannot believe how successful it has been, We have been getting around 10-20 click throughs a day at a cost of just around £8.00 a day and the results have been amazing. We get at least 3 phone calls a day and our diary is filling up. Why did we not do this sooner? we ask ourselves. We target our ads around our local area which suits our type of service business. I can highly recommend adwords to anyone with a small local business such as our. My question is, could this be a flash in the pan and could we be about to hit the ground with a huge bump?
To be honest those numbers are small and if anything you should expect to be able to increase them dramatically. First maximize your exposure with Google by expanding the number of keywords, experimenting with bids & match types, tuning your creatives & landing page. Then you can move on to Yahoo search marketing & Microsoft adCenter. You should be able to increase your traffic ten fold, and by spreading your spend over a number of search engines, also alleviate your concerns about the rug being pulled from under your feet. Hi Dan, Thanks for that advice I will definately look into those other options. I know that comapared to the numbers I have read about on this forum that my numbers are small but I thought that this conversion rate was amazing.
