Are these custom websites or bases off a template?

Regardless of whether they're custom websites or not, cloning website designs isn't the best way to go, it's frowned upon in the graphic/webdesign community. Be original. It may cost more but you develop your own brand that way.

Let's be serious, mate. This designs are not worth cloning. Open a graphic editor and release your imagination. I'm sure that you'll make better design than theese.

As above, this design is simply not worth it. It's a bunch of divs and simple gradient graphics anyway. Unless, what you are interested in are the slide show galleries. If so, just typed in into google "java script slide show" and you will find a several ways to do it.

You are right. I still remember years back i did not know anything about design but by only opening some graphic editors and playing with them, i know longer need somebody to do the work for me.

Cloning a site is bad for many reasons.

    A. you don't know the coders skills or original intention with GUI and scripting. You'll spend more time trying to decipher what's going on then if you did it from scratch.
    B. if the code sucks to begin with, now it sucks with your name associated with it.
    C. As Picasso once said. Good artists borrow, great artists steal.' Find something that you really like on the page, analyze it, google it to learn more about the technique and then borrow what you need, fixing it to make it better.

sorry, @AtDeaDesign but none of your comments makes any sense

@others: cloning doesn't mean stealing this particular site, as they are written in php scraping the content it's not enough. the underlying design have to be written in php. however I'm quite sure you will find an engine like the one used in those sites, that is based on Wordpress

@flap how do none of my comments not make sense?

You download someone else's work and you have the code they wrote. Why did they put this code here or there? You'll spend wasting time trying to figure out how and why they coded it the way they did so you can customize it to your tastes. You download their code, you could have the same mistakes, issues they made on your site.

The explanation is simple, take what you like from a page, make sure it's compliant and error free, if not google to learn how to make it better.

I do this all the time and it saves me a bundle of work

    i agree with @AtSeaDesign,

i think it more efficient to just take what we like from a page, not copy/download the wholething, because in the end we will spend more time editing the script to make it error free.
google is the best tutor for web development right now, we can just ask google for what we wanna make :D

    semangat!

A lot of good advice given before me so not going to repeat. But to answer your original question. This design is based off a template, and I have no doubt that this template gets tweaked ever so little to generate a "new" template that they can then sell on as unique design.
